John Wick

Plot is simple here: the bad guys are Russian mobsters, the good guy is their ex-employee turned magically onto other side. Plenty of fighting, bullet bites and car crashing. Most of the script written in cool, but simple one-liners.

But, why you SHOULD see this one is the come back of Keanu Reeves (and I hope, he'll stay for a while), the direction of two stuntmen (really good, actually), the production of Eva Longoria (this is SO unlike the Housewives) and, most important, the general atmosphere of the movie.

Beaver Building @ Manhattan

John Wick is designed in superb, dark, luxurious, cosy New York style. Most scenes are shot in very cool places with the pop noir vibe. Those familiar with New York architecture will know that it is world famous as the No1 place of neo-Gothic, and Manhattan is the capital of that stylish state. The imaginary Continental Hotel, the assassins safe place, is an epicenter of the hospitality style explosion. In its calm, dark way it recalls Julian Schnabel's Gramercy Park Hotel, the Bible for all of us who do the interior design (and one of my personal Top 10 hotels). Kudos to production and art designers: Great job!

Excellent cast sounds funny trying to speak porusskiy, but hey, let's not split hairs, worse thing is the very disturbing music that only underlines the brutality of some scenes.
